Talking Technical with Perry Mitchell

Well known to users of the GTC Forum Perry Mitchell is an ex-Ampex and Sony engineer and now Head Engineer at Procam Television.

During this evening workshop Perry will conduct interactive discussions into the mystery and magic of motion pictures, video and the meaning of life! If the small audience desires, he will also detour into the maze of camera engineering and will discuss and try to answer any specific questions raised.

Perry has had over 40 years as a broadcast engineer. He started in the BBC as colour television arrived in the home, spent a few years around the third world installing equipment for Ampex and then nearly 20 years in various jobs for Sony Broadcast. This included product managing the arrival of CCDs and digital recording to cameras and latterly ten years producing corporate videos as a one man band. A year-long 'sabbatical' starting TV in the Seychelles was an interesting detour - but hey - somebody had to do it! Corporate video production followed as a sole trader but the last 8 years he has spent as Engineer at Procam Television, London's biggest broadcast camera Hire Facility. Over his career he has been an active performer of most production skills, from writing scripts through camera operating, directing talent, lighting, graphics, animating, editing and digital delivery. However it is fair to say he is still an engineer at heart and proud of it!

He has had active relations with the GTC and its members for 30 years and is a regular contributor to the Forum.
