The Dual Pro-Dim 5 product line has essentially six variants. All versions of this two channel digital dimmer design come in the same robust wall and pole mounting case and have internal screw terminal inputs for connecting two external analogue 0 – 10V control signals (one per channel).Add to kit list
The four basic variants of this design are all simply two channel dimming or zero voltage switching packs, and come either with on-board rotary level controls (Master versions) or without the on board controls (Slave versions) and either with DMX inputs, or without DMX inputs.
The DMX versions still have the two analogue inputs but also have bcd switches to set the DMX address, 3 or 5 pin XLR connectors (as required) and an RJ45 DMX input socket for ease of interfacing with our AMD or Anyscene DMX products. For each channel, the highest of the analogue input level, DMX input level, or on board level control setting has precedence and sets the dimming level on that channel.
The dedicated Dual Pro-Dim 5 'Crossfade 2' model has no external control inputs, but uses four on board rotary potentiometers to provide control of the Speed, Master Level, Crosspoint (bias) and balance for the crossfade algorithm. When the Speed control is set to zero, the pack becomes a simple two channel dimmer with two of the potentiometers becoming the on board level controls for static two channel dimming. A basic specification for this model is shown below:
Speed: Cycle period from 330 ms (3Hz) to 82 sec
Master: Master level control for both channels from 0-100%
Balance: Level balance between channels from 50% : 100% to 100% : 50%
Crosspoint: Range control from mainly on alternating to off, to mainly off alternating to on.
The Dual Pro-Dim 5 ‘effects’ version of the Pro-Dim incorporates all the possible features of the above products, on board level controls, DMX inputs and Crossfade 2 operation together with an additional range of flicker effects simulating various light sources such as candle light and firelight.
With the DMX address set to zero, it is a dual channel analogue input dimmer with two on board level controls.
With the DMX address set from 1-511, any DMX input is combined with the analogue controls and analogue inputs to control the dimming levels of the two channels.
With the DMX address set to 800, the unit turns into a Crossfade 2.
With the DMX address set to 900 up, a range of 'flicker' lighting effects are available to simulate candle light, firelight, TV, lightning etc
