Canon C500 MKII

Canon’s latest 5.9K Full-Frame Sensor camera, the C500 MKII, offers a long list of impressive specifications to achieve your creative vision. Below we have outlined some of the top features, and the advantages of filming your next production on the Canon C500 MKII..

IT's Flexible and Versatile

The Canon C500 MKII is compact and light (1.75kg), and has a modular design making it an ideal choice for a variety of filming scenarios. When stripped down the camera is perfect for use on gimbals and drones, and when built onto a shoulder rig allows for comfortable run-and-gun handheld filming. The EU-V2 Extension Unit, which is supplied with Procam C500 MKII kits as standard, allows V-Lok batteries to be used for extended recording times, and gives two additional XLR inputs. The C500 MKII can be supplied as native PL mount, or with an EF mount fitted, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of lenses.

it's Netflix Approved

Not all cameras meet the leading streamer’s stringent quality standards for Netflix Original productions, which often exceeds those of other broadcasters. The absolute minimum technical requirement for a Netflix approved camera is a true 4K UHD sensor, a benchmark the 5.9K full-frame CMOS sensor of the Canon C500 MKII exceeds. The sensor delivers 15+ stop latitude with a wide colour space which is perfect for High Dynamic Range productions, and important for Netflix as one of the leading providers of HDR content. Other attributes must also be taken into account – the full production guide for shooting Netflix content on the C500 MKII can be found here.

Canon Cinema RAW Light Recording

In addition to recording Canon’s XF-AVC codec, the Canon C500 Mark II can record Canon Cinema RAW Light in up to 12-bit, directly to CF Express Cards in 2K, 4K, and 5.9K, offering the benefits of RAW recording in a reduced file size, offering more options in post-production.

Fast Frame Rates

The C500 MKII offers impressive slow-motion capabilities in higher resolutions, meaning capture slow-motion imagery can be captured without compromising on image quality. In 5.9K and 4K in Cinema RAW Light the C500 MKII can record up to 60fps, and 2K Cinema RAW Light allows recording up to 120fps.

Compatibility with Optional Accessories, Including the EVF-V70 Viewfinder

The Canon C500 MKII can be used with a whole host of Canon accessories, including the Canon OLED Electronic Viewfinder EVF-V70 (a feature shared with the Canon C700). The EVF-V70 features a 1920x1080 resolution, which is critical for 4K applications, and has an array of display functions, including Zebra Mode and False Colour Display to assist with exposure. The V70 puts the control at the operator’s fingertips with four assignable buttons plus a menu navigation joystick and menu selector.
